Issues

Arena – Swimming Pool

Young families moving into the region need facilities to enjoy hockey and swimming. We need a funding commitment from the provincial government to address these lack of facilities.

Now is the time to get the commitment for a full recreational complex.

Fire Services

The people of Paradise have no fire hall and rely on service from St. John’s and Mount Pearl. Government must recognize this gap as a priority.

We need more local fire service with quicker response times.

Effective Planning

People who live in Topsail District are struggling with congested roads and a disappearing natural environment.

There are smarter ways for development and road construction across the region to be better coordinated.

Junior High – High Schools

There are no junior high or high schools for our children to attend once they leave elementary school. Hundreds of students will be forced to bus to Mount Pearl and Conception Bay South during the risky winter months.

Government must immediately address this gap with a commitment for a high school in our region.

Sustainable Spending

Government is focusing too much of its attention on non-renewable resources as their main source of revenue. We need to ensure we have a sustainable stream of revenue to maintain our prosperity once the oil is gone. Only greater economic diversification will meet future needs.

We must plan for tomorrow or risk losing our have-province status.

A Strong Voice for the District

The needs of Topsail District should not be buried under caucus interests. We deserve a strong voice that will not be afraid to stand up for your interests.

About Shane

Shane graduated from Memorial University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He currently works as an account executive with Triware Technologies in the sales and customer service industry.

He is passionate about his community and improving the level of public services in the region. He is dedicated to addressing the lack of recreational facilities, fire services, junior high and senior high schools in Paradise and increased traffic congestion.

When not at work, Shane enjoys spending time with family and friends participating in outdoor activities such as hiking, gardening and snowshoeing.

Shane has prided himself on serving the needs of people and plans to extend this commitment to the people of Topsail District as their Member of the House of Assembly.
